In Mexico they are very few bi-national commercialization groups that are represented by women that live in poor regions, that can work with a sense of respect that include women's right, participation, and a equity between sexes of indigenous women and the world as a whole. For the most part they are more organizations were the majority are owned or worked by men .
This is why in 2006, The bi-national network Niu Matat Napawika (RED NMN) is created with the purpose to better Mexican women artisan 's economy. Constructing a union between various indigenous groups to achieve cultural diversity and beauty with the commercialization of Mexican hand crafts.
In 2007 the Network (RED NMN) is created by four states in Mexico and a strategic point in the United States in EL Paso, Texas. These being:
In Mexico:
- Yoltli in Puebla.
- Xasasti Yolistli in Puebla.
- Chihuahua Raramuri Cooperatives in Chihuahua.
- Cooperative Organizations of Oaxaca in Oaxaca.
- Mujeres para Hoy (Women for Today) in Mexico D.F.
- Pima Cooperatives from Sonora in Sonora.
- Uyamil in Cd, Juarez, Chihuahua.
In the United States:
- La Mujer Obrera, Centro Mayapán- Lum Metik LLC in El Paso, Texas.
During this time the RED NMN has had manny accomplishments that include:
- Centro Mayapan and Lum Metik Store have helped in the exportation and commercialization of Mexican crafts to Mercado Mayapan in El Paso, Texas. As well as creating jobs for Mexican women living in El Paso.
- An agreement with The Sheraton Hotel in Mexico D.F and the RED NMN to open a Mexican craft store for 9 months at the Sheraton Hotel.
- The opening of Xochi-Mait Galleries a Mexican crafts store established by Xasastli. A store that commercializes and promotes products from the RED NMN.
- The formalization off a craft design capacity program in three states of the Mexico. A program that was thought to 16 communities and was beneficial to more than 500 craft workers.
- The integration to a new organization of 120 crafts women form the state of Sonora, Mexico who have been benefited with the RED NMN.
- Give support to cooperatives from the AMUCS organization. In the commercialization of their products as well as advice and training.
- Assistance and participation to all the events, leaders and promoters of the RED NMN. Interchange of products in the establishments of The RED NMN. With solitary relations and institutional support that permit the continuity of the project.
All this with the purpose to strengthen the economy form Mexican craft women. Through the diverse union of indigenous groups that strive to preserve our cultures by constructing a system of fair trade.
